The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
