Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who do not give a due share of their wealth for the welfare of others, and do not believe in the Hereafter. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
