The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
