Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
