The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
