The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
