And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
