And this Qur'an is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
