The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
