۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: "Are you expressing your true ideas before us or are you jesting?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
