A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 shall all eat from the Tree of al-Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
