Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 and raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
