The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
