The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
