۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: 'Truly, you and your fathers are in clear error' 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 Abraham replied, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them, and I bear witness to that. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They asked, "Abraham, did you do this to our idols?" 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They had sought to do him harm, but We frustrated them. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
