Most Auspicious is He Who created lofty towers in the sky and placed a lamp in it, and the luminous moon. 61 He it is Who caused the night and the day to succeed each other so that everyone who desires may learn a lesson or become grateful. 62 The servants of the All-merciful are those who walk in the earth modestly and who, when the ignorant address them, say, 'Peace'; 63 And who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing, 64 and who pray: "O our Sustainer, avert from us the suffering of hell - for, verily, the suffering caused by it is bound to be a torment dire: 65 evil it is as a lodging-place and an abode'; 66 And those who, when spending, neither exceed the limits nor act miserly, and stay in moderation between the two. 67 And those who cry not unto any other god along with Allah, nor take the life which Allah hath forbidden save in (course of) justice, nor commit adultery - and whoso doeth this shall pay the penalty; 68 and on the Day of Judgment their torment will be double. They will suffer forever in disgrace. 69 Excepted, however, shall be they who repent and attain to faith and do righteous deeds: for it is they whose [erstwhile] bad deeds God will transform into good ones - seeing that God is indeed much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace, 70 And whosoever repenteth and doeth good, he verily repenteth toward Allah with true repentance - 71 And those who do not give false testimony, and when they pass near some indecency, they pass by it saving their honour. 72 And those who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, do not fall deaf and blind upon them. 73 Those who say: 'Lord give us of our wives and children what pleases our eyes and make us leaders to the fearful' 74 These shall be rewarded with high places because they were patient, and shall be met therein with greetings and salutations. 75 There they shall live for ever; a fine dwelling place, and residence. 76 Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!" 77
