Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the All-Mighty, the Real Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
