The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
