The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
