The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
