The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We showed them miracles but they ignored them. 81 And they used to carve dwellings in the hills, without fear. 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Do not direct your eyes towards the things We have given to some of their couples to enjoy, and do not at all grieve because of them, and take the Muslims within the folds of your mercy. 88 And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 about what they did. 93 Therefore publicly announce what you are commanded, and turn away from the polytheists. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
