And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
