Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a high garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
