WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 [coming upon thee] from the right and from the left, in crowds? 37 Does every man of them desire that he should be made to enter the garden of bliss? 38 Never! For, behold, We have created them out of something that they know [only too well]! 39 So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able 40 To replace them by (others) better than them; and We are not to be outrun. 41 So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised - 42 The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening. 43 with downcast eyes, with ignominy overwhelming them: that Day which they were promised again and again 44
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej). Sent down in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
