۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
