The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 The Roman Empire has been defeated- 2 in a nearby land. They will reverse their defeat with a victory 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. 6 they only know the outward appearance of the life of this world, and they are neglectful of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allah created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allah has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord. [See Tafsir At-Tabari, Part 21, Page 24]. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Therefore evil was the end of those who did evil, for they denied the signs of God and made fun of them. 10
