The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
