The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
