The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
