The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
