The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 When the most wicked among them stood up in defiance. 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
