Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 46
