The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim. 1 Do people think that once they say, "We believe," they will be left alone and not be put to the test? 2 for We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied. 3 Or do they think - they who do evil deeds [while claiming to have attained to faith] - that they can escape Us? Bad, indeed, is their judgment! 4 He who hopes to meet Allah (must know) that the term of Allah is coming. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 5 And whoever strives in Allah's cause, strives only for his own benefit; indeed Allah is Independent of the entire creation. 6 And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. 7 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 Among people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah.” But when such a person is made to endure suffering in Allah's cause, he reckons the persecution he suffers at the hands of people as though it is a chastisement from Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, the same person will say “We were with you.” Does Allah not know whatever is in the hearts of the people of the world? 10 Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites. 11 Those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Follow our way (of religion) and we verily will bear your sins (for you). They cannot bear aught of their sins. Lo! they verily are liars. 12 And surely they shall bear their loads and other loads beside their own loads, and surely they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection concerning that which they were wont to fabricate. 13
