The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
