▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Tell Me! The seed that you sow in the ground. 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
