And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Until when he comes to Us, he says: O would that between me and you there were the distance of the East and the West; so evil is the associate! 38 And it profiteth you not this day, because ye did wrong, that ye will be sharers in the doom. 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 Even if We take you away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 Ask Our Messengers whom We sent before you if We have ever made gods, other than the Merciful, to be worshipped. 45
