Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
