The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
