The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 for a great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
