In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
