And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
