Al-Zukhruf 5 of 7

And verily We sent Moses with Our revelations unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, and he said: I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds. 46 But when he came to them with Our signs, lo! they laughed at them. 47 We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us). 48 And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided." 49 Yet no sooner did We take away the affliction from them than they broke their pledge. 50 Pharaoh called to his people, "My people, is the Kingdom of Egypt not mine? And these rivers that flow at my feet, are they not mine? Do you not see? 51 Am I not better than this contemptible man who can hardly make his meaning clear? 52 “So why was he not bestowed with armlets of gold? Or angels should have come with him staying at his side!” 53 Then he incited his people and they obeyed him; verily they were ever a transgressing people. 54 But when they roused Our anger We inflicted retributive punishment and drowned them all, 55 And made them a precedent and example for posterity. 56
