The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
