The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
