And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can anticipate their term, nor can they delay it. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
