The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And the swollen sea 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 No one can avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
