Nay, and by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Of evil-doers: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
