The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
