The pilgrimage is (performed in) the well-known months; so whoever determines the performance of the pilgrimage therein, there shall be no intercourse nor fornication nor quarrelling amongst one another; and whatever good you do, Allah knows it; and make provision, for surely the provision is the guarding of oneself, and be careful (of your duty) to Me, O men of understanding. 197 No fault it is in you if ye seek grace from your Lord. Then when ye hurry from Arafat, remember Allah near the sacred monument. Remember Him as He hath guided you, and ye were afore of the erring. 198 Then press on from where the people press on, and pray for God's forgiveness; God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. 199 So when you have performed your devotions, then laud Allah as you lauded your fathers, rather a greater lauding. But there are some people who say, Our Lord! give us in the world, and they shall have no resting place. 200 But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." 201 They shall have (their) portion of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in reckoning. 202 ۞ And remember Allah during the appointed Days. But whosoever hastens to leave in two days, there is no sin on him and whosoever stays on, there is no sin on him, if his aim is to do good and obey Allah (fear Him), and know that you will surely be gathered unto Him. 203 And some men there are whose saying upon the present world pleases thee, and such a one calls on God to witness what is in his heart, yet he is most stubborn in altercation, 204 And when he turns back, he runs along in the land that he may cause mischief in it and destroy the tilth and the stock, and Allah does not love mischief-making. 205 When they are asked to have fear of God, sinful pride prevents them from paying heed to such advice. It is enough for them to have hell as a terrible dwelling place. 206 And there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of Allah: And Allah is full of kindness to (His) devotees. 207 O believers, enter the peace, all of you, and follow not the steps of Satan; he is a manifest foe to you. 208 If you falter even after Our signs have reached you, then do not forget that God is all-powerful and all-wise. 209 Have they decided not to believe until God comes down in a shadow of clouds with the angels so that then the matter is settled? To God do all matters return. 210
