Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 It (the Quran) exists in the original Book with Us which is certainly Most Exalted, full of wisdom and (beyond linguistic structures). 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them). 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
